“Qalby Etmaan” Launches Its Ninth Season With The Message “An Obligation From Allah”
Qalby Etmaan has launched its ninth season with a premiere episode titled “An Obligation from Allah”. The new season marks a clear evolution, introducing a structured, knowledge-led approach. Building on its history of humanitarian stories, the programme now focuses on deepening understanding of Zakat as one of the pillars of Islam. Zakat is shown as a system that promotes social justice and strengthens the balance between individuals and society.
Sponsored by ADNOC, the episode aired on Abu Dhabi TV on the first day of the Holy Month and on the programme’s YouTube channel. Season nine reflects an expanded scope of initiatives, reinforcing the programme’s humanitarian commitment during the month of giving.
This season explores the eight categories of Zakat recipients and their impact on society. It highlights practical models of empowerment and sustainability. Through solution-oriented interventions, the programme shows how Zakat can create lasting change beyond immediate relief.
The opening episode tells the story of Ezzeldine, a Sudanese refugee who faced hardship after the loss of his wife. Left to raise his daughters alone, he carried immense financial and emotional responsibility. An integrated intervention restored the family’s stability, addressed urgent obligations, and offered renewed reassurance. The story ends with a moving reunion between Ezzeldine and his mother.
The episode opens with an introductory film narrated by Ghaith, featuring scenes from previous seasons to reintroduce viewers to Zakat:
“We seek to restore Zakat to its true meaning, not a duty fulfilled and forgotten, but a responsibility that revives hearts before it meets needs. When people stand together in solidarity, hardship gives way to new beginnings and struggle transforms into reassurance. This season is an open invitation to everyone who can be a reason for someone’s relief, for goodness is only complete when it becomes a shared act among us all.”
The film concludes:
“Zakat is not a number to be paid, but a life to be saved, a family to be reunited. And as long as Allah tests a person, it is because there is goodness within them waiting to be realised.”
Since its inception, Qalby Etmaan has delivered eight seasons, reached 19 countries, and supported more than 60,000 beneficiaries and their families. The programme continues to enjoy wide public acceptance worldwide, particularly across the Arab region.
