Bait Al Oud
If you love music, you’ll enjoy this welcoming musical facility. Established in 2008, Bait Al Oud plays a key role in preserving and sharing the understanding of Arabic musical instruments, overseeing their return to the contemporary music scene.
Bait Al Oud is dedicated to the preservation, study and teaching of the oud, a short-neck, lute-type, pear-shaped stringed instrument that is thought to date back to the Akkadian Empire in ancient Mesopotamia, which is now modern-day Iraq. The centre also promotes the continuation of the songs and techniques associated with this beautiful instrument.
Offering music lessons and certificate-awarding courses, Bait Al Oud is a centre of both teaching and research, continuing the tradition of crafting ouds by hand and partaking in outreach programmes to spread awareness and appreciation of the oud and other Arabic musical instruments.
